If you meet certain eligibility criteria, you can renew your NSW driver licence online, for a term of 1, 3 or 5 years.

You'll need to visit a service centre and renew in person if:

Eligibility

You can renew your NSW driver licence online if you meet the following criteria:

you meet the eyesight requirements
you hold an eligible driver licence that will expire in 6 months or less, or expired no more than 6 months ago, including:
- provisional (P1, P2) licence
- unrestricted driver licence (C, R, LR, MR, HR, HC, MC)
you're aged 21 or over (up to 70 if your licence class is MC)
- if you're aged 75 or over, you need to pass a NSW Fitness to Drive medical assessment
your medical condition(s) is recorded with Roads and Maritime Services and you have passed a NSW Fitness to Drive medical assessment
your licence is not subject to any restrictions related to enforcement (for example cancelled, disqualified, suspended, refused, or pending an appeal or suspension decision)
you’ve had your signature and photograph taken by Roads and Maritime within 10.5 years before the new licence expires.

You'll need to visit a service centre to renew your licence if any of the following apply:

you're aged between 21 and 44 and would like a 10 year licence
you've changed your address within the last 14 days
you'd like to apply for a NSW Photo Card at the same time
your licence expired more than 6 months ago
you hold a PT and are required to pass a commercial standard eyesight test
you don't meet the eyesight requirements
your medical condition(s) is not recorded with Roads and Maritime Services
you have any restrictions on your licence (for example, a suppressed address or an interlock condition)
you hold a combined driver licence and boat licence
your last renewal was done using a photo-kit

To renew in person at a service centre, you'll need:

How to renew

Check the eligibility requirements.
Select the 'Renew online' button.
Log into your MyServiceNSW Account, or sign up now. If your account is new or was not previously linked to Roads, enter your NSW driver licence details.
Select your renewal details.
Add or confirm your concession details (if applicable).
Answer and submit the declaration questions.

Enter your payment details (if applicable).
Print your transaction receipt and your temporary paper licence (also known as a driver licence receipt).
Sign the temporary paper licence and carry it with you at all times when driving, along with your old licence card if you have it.

If you renew online, your new licence card will be printed using the photo already stored by Roads and Maritime.
Carry your old licence card with you when you drive, if you still have it.
If your temporary paper licence is lost, stolen or damaged before you receive your new licence card, you can get a copy of it online.

At a service centre, you're able to apply for a NSW Photo Card at the same time if you wish, and take advantage of paying a reduced application fee for it. VicRoads is urging drivers to check expiry date on their driving licence because of a problem involving renewal notices.

About 15,000 licence renewal notices were not sent out because of an administrative error.

Drivers with licence expiry dates from today to February 11 are urged to arrange the immediate payment of their licence fee.

A significant number of people are at risk of becoming unlicensed tonight.

The executive director of registration and licensing at VicRoads, Peter Welling, says all drivers needs to check their licence expiry dates.

'Unfortunately if you haven't made a payment you won't have valid licence,' he said. Update windows installer xp.
