Basically I was able to scan files to my shared folder on my laptop, using my network printer, 2-3 months ago. Recently I am unable to scan anything to my shared folder from the same network printer. No settings has been changed.

Sep 27, 2005. Print labels via batch files using the command copy file.txt server share command. Have recently done away with server based printing and everything is. Network printer that is not connected to a print server, it just has it's own static ip address and I print to it from my XP box using a standard TCP/IP port. For example, to map LPT2 to a printer shared as Laser1 on a print server that is named Pserver, follow these steps: Click Start, and then click. In the Open box, type. Cmd, and then click OK. Type net use lpt2 pserver laser1 /persistent:yes, and then press ENTER. To quit the command prompt, type.

We have a new server running Server 2008 R2. We also have a 'DOS-based' program that prints directly to the UNC path of a print share. With the new server, we are unable to print from this program. According to support, the program's printing works in the same way as if we were to do a 'copy mytextfile.txt myservermyprinter'. When we try to run this command in DOS, we get 'Access is denied'. Support is saying that this is why the DOS program is not able to print. I have tried granting all permissions on the printer to the appropriate users (under Security of the printer properties) but that did not work. Is there a policy setting that would cause this to be denied?

How To Copy On Printer
I was having the exact problem. I finally found out why. Standard users do not have write permission to the spool directory (c:windowssystem32spoolprinters). Once I gave the Users group write permissions to this directory, UNC printing started working.
