    the 2005 update is a nice add-on to an already good platform. i'm looking forward to more updates to increase the productivity on my tablet.

    i still think ms needs to advertise the tablet form-factor more though. only one person out of every hundred or so i talk to even has the faintest of ideas what a tablet is.

    i still can't believe the tablet hasn't taken off but their isn't really any marketing for them except in high end business magizines.

    i'm surprised that the marketing campaigns are tooled to people that would really go for them.

    the college market and high school market is where to go at it, but it would have to be done right. i have never seen much advertising in the college market to students only to faculty and staff.

    one day the company's will get it or will hire on someone with college marketing experience. it greatly surprised me this year that neither hp, ms, or any of the other companies advertised or had the tabletpc in any of their college mailers.

    its a shame, businesses will be the last to impliment them because of cost but some students have extra cash and it could turn into a great fad. – by sbainbridge

    the best slate right now is possibly the motion with the view anywhere screen.

    the best convertable is possibly the toshiba m200. i myself own a pentium dothan 2.0 ghz with 1gb of ram. it is beautiful to use it in my college class – by huy33

    i've been using my tablet for about a year now (an acer c102 tci). prior to purchasing acer tablets my company trialled the compaq/hp tc1000 (so i can empathise with your hui. code morphing patches didn't do dick for the crusoe proc's performance).

    tablets are great for mobility. i look at people still recording info on paper, who then can't find info they want it. i really couldn't live without mine.

    as for tablets going mainstream, i'm sure the general perception is, the increased functionality gained from using a tablet is not worth the extra premium that must be paid. when the premium comes down, every new laptop/notebook will be a tablet. and naysayers just can't read the writing on the wall.
